Inter Milan sporting director Beppe Marotta has given his thoughts regarding Romelo Lukaku’s future at the club and whether or not he will return to Chelsea at the end of this season. Lukaku signed for Chelsea in August, 2021 after a great successful 2020/21 for a sum of €110m, a deal he regrets still. He returned to the club on loan after a disastrous season with Chelsea and hopes that he can be here at Inter in the coming season as well. He said with respect to Lukaku, “His love for the Inter jersey is 10 out of 10, we’ll evaluate the prospects with Chelsea.”
He added, “He will return to Chelsea after the loan and then we can all together evaluate the prospects. It’s premature to discuss it now. His performances have been comforting and support the ambitions of the team.”
Inter Milan are not in the best of form in the last couple of weeks with back to back defeats just before the International duty. And with some tough fixtures this month where they will play Juventus at the Coppa Italia semi-final and the Champions League quarter-final, they will have a crucial clash against Benfica.
Marotta spoke to DAZN, “Many of our players were on international duty and that was a strain on them, both for playing and the long journeys. The squad only came back together on Friday, so the choices made by the coach were dictated also by this grand tour our players went through.”
When asked about the players leaving the club, he confirmed yet again that Milan Skriniar will be joining the French Capital PSG. He said that Alessandro Bastoni and Andre Onana will be at the club. He said, “As you all know, when the players want to remain at a club, it all becomes easier. I told the players to concentrate on the end of this season and not worry about the contract renewals. There is so much still up for grabs and we are all concentrated on the next month.”
