Hisashi Ouchi...
In a freak nuclear accident that took place in September 1999 in Japan, a man was introduced to the highest level of radioactive material. Hisashi Ouchi was exposed to about 17 sieverts and was kept alive for 83 days. The doctors continued their experimental treatments even as his skin began to melt from his body. Then, on Ouchi’s 59th day in the hospital, he had a heart attack. But his family agreed that he should be resuscitated in case of death, so the doctors revived him. He would eventually have three heart attacks in one hour. He lost most of his skin and began crying blood before his agony finally ended by a fatal heart attack.
It is extremely important to understand that the doctors had no choice. They were legally obligated by law to keep him alive unless he himself asked to be euthanized, which he never did. After Ouchi lost consciousness, only his family had the ability to allow his euthanasia.
