The Equality Act, which would amend Civil Rights Act of 1964, was passed in the house 224-206 with three Republicans joining Democrats. The bill, which acknowledges different areas of discrimination and aims to prohibit such actions, specifically when it comes to public accommodations, education, federal funding, employment, housing, credit, and the jury system, will now head to the Senate.
Personally, I have some reservations about how transgender participation might affect sport competitions, but I’m happy to see that the House passed the Equality Act, especially when considering the trends observed in the NYT article. We can have a discussion around these topics, but whether you agree with who they are or identify as, there is no room for discrimination or segregation.
