Many schools have a reputation of bullying and it is a major problem, but it's mental health effects goes beyond school and it affects an individual maybe for their lifetime.
Bullying can bring short term and long term effects on children and some of the short term effects are as follows:
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Low self-esteem
• Difficulty sleeping
• Self-harm or suicidal thoughts
These experiences could fade away within time, but that doesn't mean that the child has moved from it. Research shows that children who had experienced bullying are at greater risk of mental health problems as they grow into adulthood.
Long-term effects.
The affects doesn’t go away as the child grows. They sometimes leave back long term effects on an individual as they grow into an adult:
• Generalized anxiety
• Panic disorder
• Agoraphobia
• Depression
• Loneliness
• School avoidance
Mental Health Outcomes for People Who Bully
Bullying just doesn't harm an individual, but they are more likely to be aggressive and act out in other ways.
They're more likely to feel less positive about their future and they develop antisociL personality disorder as they grow into adults.
Children who are both, bullies and bullied tend to struggle as they become adults.
These children have higher rates of anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and substance abuse when compared to children who are victims or bullies only.
