Did you know that our smartphones are veritable breeding grounds for germs? We carry them everywhere, from the dinner table to public transport, and even into the bathroom. As a result, the screens become hotspots for bacteria and viruses to thrive.
Our phones get really dirty because we use them everywhere, even when we're eating, on public transport, and even in the bathroom. It's not surprising that our phones are full of harmful germs (25,127 bacteria per square inch to be precise) which makes cell phones one of the dirtiest objects we come in contact with every day. According to a survey conducted by Sell-cell;
1 Pseudomonas aeruginosa - Found on 50% of the phone screens (commonly found in cockroach faeces).
2 E. coli and faecal streptococci - Found in 100% of the phone screens (found in human and animal excreta).
3 Bacillus cereus - Found on 100% of phone screens (responsible for intense food poisoning).
Keeping your phone out of the bathroom will help, but if you want to clean your phone, a combination of 60% water and 40% rubbing alcohol helps. Mix the ingredients together, and dip a cloth in the solution before wiping it gently across your phone.
Regularly cleaning your phone's screen with a disinfectant wipe can help reduce the risk of spreading illness-causing germs. So next time you reach for your phone, remember to keep it clean for your health's sake!
Still, the best advice has more to do with you than the phone. Wash your hands several times a day and you'll likely be just fine.
