The Kaushal Bhawan, the new office of the Union ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship in New Moti Bagh, south Delhi, is a building that incorporates real trees into its design.
Instead of cutting down 28 trees during construction, the building was designed to protect three fully grown trees, including a banyan, a cluster fig, and a neem tree.
These trees now serve as an artistic addition to the building's architecture.
The building has a triangular aspect and spans 1.3 acres with seven floors and three underground basements.
To ensure the trees receive sufficient sunlight, holes have been created in the upper roof of the building.
Grass, flowering plants, and shrubs have been planted to create a natural environment around the trees.
The building also features a sewage treatment plant and a rainwater harvesting system.
Adequate parking is available for visitors, and the basements serve as parking space for ministry employees.
Although the building has not been officially inaugurated, a havan ceremony has taken place, and the process of shifting office equipment is underway.
