With our planet being, almost on the verge of a serious environmental breakdown, the need for a way to reverse the damage being caused is of utmost importance.
And that is what the fashion industry been trying to achieve. According to an article on the World Economic forum website, the fashion industry produces 10% of all humanity’s carbon emissions and is the second-largest consumer of the world’s water supply.
Hence, sustainable fashion has been on the rise.
For those of you, who don't know: Sustainable fashion aims to reduce a company's carbon footprint by emphasizing on recycled goods, lesser water consumption, use of cruelty-free substitutes, reducing emission of greenhouse gases and no use of fertilizers.
In recent years, consumers have become more aware of what they buy and how much it impacts the environment.
But, sustainable fashion aims to reduce that. With this kind of revolution in the fashion industry, we are also seeing an eco-ethical way of production that ensures that the people working in it are also environmentally safe.
To elaborate, brands are now aiming to provide a safe, healthy and pollution free working environment to its workers. Some are even prohibiting any kind of child labour as opposed to the 170 million children who used to be involved in garment production according to UNICEF.
Hence, this change is the fashion industry is more impactful then meets the eye.
