It's a painful when our loved ones dies and the grief is your emotional response to the loss. When grieving, its normal to feel sadness, regret, anger and other feelings. You would feel like the pain will never end and the grief will come and go for months or even years.
It would seem impossible, but there are ways to adjust to life without the person you have lost. The grieving process could be long and difficult, but there are things that could do to help yourself through it.
Your ways to cope can be different, just like your grief. You can try out things which you have used in the similar situations. Here are some things which you can do to cope with grief and loss.
Letting out feelings out: Grief can hurt, but it is natural and healthy to grieve. Let yourself experience the feelings like shock, sadness, anger and loneliness.
Be patient: Let your grief develop at its own pace. Do not judge yourself or compare yourself with others. Everyone has a different form of grieving.
Find ways to be creative: Through music or by creating art you can help yourself by expressing your feelings. This could be done on your own or with the help of a music therapist or art therapist.
Be physically active: Walking, running, riding a bicycle, or other forms of physical activity can help you release stress and cope with feelings. You can try hitting a punching bag or hitting golf balls at a driving range as a healthy outlet for any frustration or anger you feel.
Forgive yourself: Be kind to yourself if you are thinking about various things you regret about your time with your loved ones. This could help in focusing more on good memories.
Take care of yourself: Take care of yourself after someone passes away. Grief could make you tired, emotional and physically exhausted. Try to get enough of sleep at night and eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly.
