How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)

Frankly, I began watching this movie as an Instagram reel recommendation, coupled with Matthew McConaughey as the supremely hot male lead. In the beginning, I thought this was the classic dramatic movie where one partner lies to another and they ultimately break up for the betrayal, ultimately the betrayed individual taking the high road, becoming greater than thou and forgiving their partner. This movie could not be further apart.

Both the main leads, Benjamin and Andie are attractive individuals who've not exactly excelled at having a good love life. But in order to get their careers a boost, one decides to make their partner fall in love and the other decides to make this relationship a test, finding out ways to break up with a guy or things that make the guys hate you. However, neither is aware of the other's betrayal till halfway through the story. This sets it apart because both are gray characters who you definitely root for and enjoy watching together.

The movie was fabulous, especially in scenes where the relationship no longer remains solely for professional or artificial purposes but the lines start blurring and feelings start stealing the show. The story is wonderfully written (my romantic heart was happy to see a good romance after all!) and Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey are as brilliant as ever. Definitely a rom-com for a girls night out (or a bachelor's party, whatever works;) ).
