HT newspaper carried a full page article on Mr Ankur Warikoo , the new age Guru and a father figure for the youth in their 20s .
Back in 1960s and 1970s there was no concept of failures among students and young people. But in 1980s things changed. Engineering + MBA or Medical became the defacto career choices for one who wanted to break the middle class barrier . They fetched good dowry plus Maruti 800. Parents became oblivious of the fact that not all children can become engineers or doctors . These problems worsened in the 1990s.
By the time we turned over into 21st Century the awareness of being a failure had permeated the student community and school children started committing suicides based on their performance in Board exams .
It was this juncture Mr Sandeep Maheswari emerged . He was like the elder brother who understood more than the parents did . He was a messiah who had answers to the issues of young related to education, self esteem, love affairs, career etc . However he didn't write books and faded away . The problem he addressed However didn't fade away .
The vacuum he left has now been filled by Mr Ankur Warikoo who is Almost an Engineer , a MBa , an entrepreneur and of middle class background.
His style is Robin Sharrma . His forte is to give a Monk spin to the youth issues. Like a typical Buddhist Monk he preaches calmness , equanimity, patience, & gratitude.
Sadhguru once in his lecture said that we come with nothing and take away nothing as we die so what we get between these two is bonus so why complain .
Back in the 1980s there used to be a paper wall hanging ( Geeta Saar ) which explained Geeta in 20 bullet points and it was very comforting to read .
However as jobs shrink and will vanish thanks to AI scientists, we will need a new Avtaar soon to address issues in 2030 as the Monk approach is not going to work when most of our youth will face rampant unemployment due to AI.
