Next bill in Parliament could be on Bindi. World over it was showcased as an Indian identity, not Indian Hindu or Indian non Hindu identity. But that was during the days of Incredible india. Authors of Intolerant India have set it's rules and parameters on the principles of hate and hate mongering.
Wearing Bindi or not is absolutely an individual choice. I love wearing ethnic but to cover my forehead with a bindi or not is absolutely my choice, and also doesn't define my religion or identity.
I absolutely love wearing Bindi but not with every outfit, similarly many other women feel the same too.
Whereas in social media the opinion is divided among people, a trend started by author Shefali Vaidya, who is known for her right-wing views, she wrote on Twitter, "Speaking for myself. Not buying anything for #Deepawali from ANY brand that shows models without a bindi. #NoBindiNoBusiness."
There is a boycott campaign going around in social media against the advertisements about the upcoming festival of Diwali. FabIndia was trolled for their "Jashn-e-Riwaaz" collection, and the advertisement was taken down. As it was believed by some that in Hindu traditions, Muslim ideologies are ejected.
Similarly Tanishq Jewellery also apologized and took down their advertisement in the past, as they tried to showcase secularism, now this Bindi campaign has begun on Twitter with a #NoBindiNoBusiness.
We have seen a sense of intolerance among people in recent times. India is a secular country, but advertisements trying to showcase that are getting boycotted because of the outrage of certain sections of people who feel their Hindu identity is threatened.
Boycott campaigns have become a new trend in social media, although many do believe and are voicing their opinion against it. But what's sad instead of we becoming progressive and accepting about each other, the hatred among people seems to be rising!
