International tunnelling expert Arnold Dix played a pivotal role in the successful rescue operation of 41 workers trapped inside Uttarkashi's Silkyara tunnel since November 12. Head of the Geneva-based International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association, Dix is renowned for his expertise in navigating legal, environmental, political, and ethical challenges related to underground construction.

As the government spared no effort in the rescue mission, Dix's involvement became crucial. Today, as rat-hole mining experts made the breakthrough, digging through the last few meters of rubble, Dix expressed satisfaction with the progress.
