Examples include virtual assistants like Siri or Alexa, and chess-playing programs like Deep Blue. These systems excel within their designated functions but are limited to the parameters set by their programming. They can't generalize their knowledge or adapt to new tasks outside their intended scope.
Contrastingly, Strong AI, or artificial general intelligence (AGI), aims to replicate human cognitive abilities. It is designed to understand, learn, and apply knowledge across a wide array of activities, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability similar to human intelligence. Strong AI can tackle unforeseen situations, make autonomous decisions, and handle multiple tasks, much like a human can. While Weak AI is prevalent and integrated into many aspects of our daily lives, achieving Strong AI remains a significant and complex challenge in the field of AI research.
