India Breeze Past England, Enter T20 World Cup Finals
Team India registered a tactical victory over England last evening (as per Indian Time) in the Second Semi Finals. Jos Buttler-led England fell 68 runs short of India's target of 172 runs.
England won the toss and chose to bowl first on a slow Guyana track. The first innings was broken up several times by spells of rain. The outfield was slow and the bounce was low. There were wet patches on the ground, making run-making difficult. It should have ideally been a bowlers' paradise but India captain Rohit Sharma had foiled England's plans. Sharma scored 57 off 39 deliveries, his second consecutive fifty. Suryakumar Yadav was the second highest run scorer with 47 runs. India finished on 171/7 in their 20 overs.
In the second innings, Indian bowlers were all over the England batters. Phil Salt was removed by Jasprit Bumrah, while Axar Patel took 3 crucial wickets of Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali and Jonny Bairstow. Kuldeep also picked up 3 wickets. No England batter could score over 25 runs and the innings was all over 16.4 overs, with England at 103/10.
India will face South Africa in the T20 World Cup Final that will be held on Sunday at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
