Indian Army witnessed a face-off with Chinese troops along the LAC in the Yangtse area near Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday, December 9th.
This is the first incident between the Chinese troops and Indian army since the June 2020 Galvan clashes, where 20 Indian soldiers were killed and several others were injured.
What actually led to this clash is still not clear but minor injuries have been reported on both the sides.
Following the incident India's commander in the area held a flag meeting with his chinese counterpart to discuss the issue to restore peace in the area.
However the relationship between India and china is not a normal one. Even the Indian Army chief last month said that the situation at LAC is stable but is still unpredictable as the LAC is still not demarcated properly.
China has been doing a massive build-up of its forces along the LAC and has also placed aircraft at forward bases. It has built huge infrastructure, including bridges, for the movement of its troops.
The incident also directs towards the links to the happenings in China where the nation is experiencing massive protests over the Zero covid policy and it can be easily postulated that the chinese Government is trying to have some kind of diversion to make sure that the focus shifts outside rather than inside the country.
Now India is also going to hold G20 Summit in September 2023, and China is the member of the groupings, so it is expected that Chinese president Xi Jinping will visit India next year to take part in this summit.
But The situation becomes debilitated here as there is a serious border situation on one hand and on the other hand India will be hosting a mega diplomatic event where the presence of Chinese leader will be marked.
Reactions were also seen from the Chinese side last week when US army and Indian army conducted 18th edition of Indo-US joint training exercise YUDH-ABHYAS 2022 held in the icy heights of Auli in Uttarakhand.
However, whatever happens at the border would result in certain ramifications in the relationship between India and china.
