India's dream to win their first Test series in South Africa remains unfinished.
They got dominated and relinquished by the Proteas 💔
India's Virat Kohli and KL Rahul played crucial knocks in two big games for India without any support from the other batters.
South Africa defeated India by an innings and 32 runs on 28 December, as India could manage to score just 131 in the second innings and were all out, while trailing by 163 runs at Centurion.
Kohli was the last man dismissed as South Africa seals a big win to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.
Apart from Virat Kohli, no other batter could stand for long ahead of Proteas pace attack, led by Nandre Burger, Kasigo Rabada, Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee.
For South Africa, Nandre Burger took the 4 wickets, while Marco Jansen picked three and Rabada clinched 2 important wickets. South Africa's Dean Elgar became the player of the match for scoring 185 runs.
With this defeat, India slipped to 5th position in the world test championship ranking, while South Africa climbed to clinch the top position.
In the Post-Lunch session, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah picked two wickets, ensuring the lead do not cross by 170 runs for India. The Proteas first innings was over at 408. They have a lead of 163 runs.
After losing all their wickets for 245 on Day 2 in 67.4 overs, Indian bowlers failed to dominate the day's play and it belonged to South Africa. For India Bumrah took 4 wickets, while Siraj took 2. Ashwin, Krishna and Thakur picked one each.
Before the match was called off on Day 2, as bad lights played a spoilsport. South Africa were leading by 11 runs after having scored 256/5 in 66 overs, all thanks to Dean Elgar's 14th Test century and David Bedingham's half-century.
With South African batters playing in a strong partnership, Indian pacers were in some serious trouble. However, Jasprit Bumrah didn't let that run for too long as he clinched back-to-back 2 wickets to stage India's comeback. Bumrah dismissed Tony de Zorzi and Keegan Peterson to provide India with a crucial breakthrough.
