India to Host Asia Cup 2025 After 34-Year Hiatus
The Asia Cup is set to return to India after a 34-year gap in 2025, with the country hosting the T20 edition of the tournament. The Asian Cricket Council has released an invitation for Expression of Interest, confirming India as the host for the 2025 edition, while Bangladesh will host the 2027 edition in ODIs. The tournament will feature 13 matches with six teams, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and a sixth team that will emerge from a qualifying event. Although the exact dates have not been finalized, the tournament is expected to be held in September 2025, after the monsoon season ends. The venues for the tournament are yet to be decided by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This will be a significant event in the cricket calendar, especially with no men's Asian tournament scheduled for 2026. India won the previous edition of the Asia Cup in 2023 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
