The World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 will pit cricket's titans, India and Australia, against each other for the first time. The eagerly anticipated match is set to take place from June 7 to 11 at London's iconic Oval Stadium. India and Australia qualified for the summit clash with 127 and 152 points in the 2021-23 cycle points table, respectively.
Both teams met earlier this year in India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), with the hosts defeating the Kangaroos 2-1 (4). After losing the first two matches, the visitors recovered brilliantly to win the third test in Indore. The fourth and final game in Ahmedabad ended in a draw, giving the Australians a lot of confidence after the series was completed.
Notably, India reached their second consecutive WTC Final in 2021, when they faced New Zealand in the inaugural final in Southampton, England. The Black Caps defeated India by an eight-wicket margin to become the first World Test champions. Rohit Sharma and his team will be hoping to get it right this time and win their first ICC title since winning the Champions Trophy in 2013. Pat Cummins and his team, on the other hand, will make history if they win, becoming the first team to win all major ICC titles.
India vs Australia: Head-to-Head Record
India and Australia have met 106 times, with the Asian giants winning 32 times and the Aussies 44. One game ended in a tie, and 29 ended in a tie.
