The 2020–2021 Indian farmers' protest is an ongoing protest against three farm acts which were passed by the Parliament of India in September 2020. A stalemate between the central government and the farmers has been seen for the past few months. There has been a court stay on the farm laws since January 2021. A number of incidents such as the 2021 farmers' Republic Day protest and Lakhimpur Kheri massacre have resulted in farmer deaths and heavy politicisation.
The Three Laws are:
1) Farmers Produce trade and Commerce Act 2020 - In this Farmers are Independent and can sell their Products even Inter State or any one without any Restriction and AMPC system will abolished
2) The Farmer (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 - Farmers can enter into a contract with agribusiness firms, processors, wholesalers, exporters or large retailers for sale of future farming produce at a pre-agreed price.
3) Essential Commodities Amendment Bill - In this there will be Full Power of Storing or Hoarding of Wheat and No limit is Setted
But Now Why Farmers are Protesting ?
• Farmers suspect that many times companies promise to buy farmers’ goods at a fixed price before sowing crops under contract farming. But after the harvest is ready, the companies reject the farmers’ products by pretending to be spoiled. There is also an allegation on the Essential Commodities Amendment Bill that it may give impetus to black marketing as there is no stock limit and now hoarding will increase. They also say that the government is giving permission to stock, but most farmers do not have a storage system, cold storage, etc.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY GOVERNMENT IS ALSO NOT PROVIDING MSP (MINIMUM SUPPORT PRICE)
There are Many Resons ;
Thats why Farmers are Protesting to Get their Rights and Many Other Countries are also Supporting like - Canada, US, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, etc.
