Indian Men's Hockey Team Gears Up for 2028 Olympics with Sports Minister's Support
Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced he will meet with the Indian men's hockey team, which recently won a bronze medal, to discuss strategies for securing gold at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The meeting is set to occur before September 10. Mandaviya praised the team for their commendable performance in Paris and emphasized the importance of planning for future success.
During a felicitation event, Mandaviya acknowledged the team's near-miss for gold, stating, "We came very close to gold, and your inspiration after the semifinal loss is commendable." He promised to seek the players' input and ensure government support to achieve their gold medal goal.
Mandaviya expressed satisfaction with India's overall performance, despite falling short of the previous Olympics' medal count. India won six medals in Paris—five bronze and one silver—compared to seven in Tokyo. He noted that the country narrowly missed out on seven additional medals by finishing fourth.
The Sports Minister had previously honored other team members who returned earlier. This proactive approach aims to build on the team's strengths and pave the way for future victories.
