When the UK declared a heatwave at 26-degree Celsius, we Indians at 50 degrees still enjoyed their beloved hot Chai in scorching heat.☕
Well, no one can disagree that Indians got a special bond with Chai. Because Chai is not just a drink in India, it is a tradition, a comfort and a connection.🫶
Personally, I am not particularly inclined toward any beverage per se, but I still love drinking tea, especially on days when I feel extremely tired and exhausted. But that also comes with a condition!!
My habit of drinking Chai comes from my parents. They do have it more than twice a day as and when they wish but I love them in the evenings. Evenings are the times when parents would come back from their work, make a chai, we all sit along, crunch on some snacks and chit chat about some random stuff that happened that day. It is this moment that I love drinking Chai the most. So, I must have company either with family or with friends after tiring classes otherwise i won’t enjoy them to the fullest!🤌
Tracing its origin in India
In the early 20th century, the Indian Tea Association promoted it as an affordable and healthy drink for the working class by setting up tea stalls. Vendors were encouraged to sell tea with milk, sugar, and spices, giving birth to the beloved Indian chai as we know today.🫖
Hot drinks in Hot weather - not crazy as you think.
When you drink a hot beverage, your body dilates blood vessels, increasing blood flow to the skin and causing you to sweat. As the sweat evaporates, it cools your body. Hot drinks like tea and coffee contain compounds that can help lower your body temperature. The hot liquid tricks your oral receptors into activating the body's cooling response, leading to more sweat and ultimately less heat stored in your body.😌
Tea is a constant tradition for us, no matter the season. In summers you see, no Indians would forbid chai for any heatwave. Winters are made more bearable by it, and no rainy season would be complete without it.
