Violence has a negative impact on women's overall wellbeing and keeps them from contributing fully to society. Their communities, their families, and the nation as a whole are affected.

It has significant consequences, including increased demands on health care, court expenditures, and productivity losses.

Domestic abuse is prohibited by law in at least 155 nations, and sexual harassment at work is prohibited in 140.

However, there are still issues with enforcing these laws, which restricts women and girls' access to protection and justice. Violence is not sufficiently avoided, and when it does happen, it frequently goes unpunished.
