Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Rahul Tripathi could consider himself a tad unlucky going by his mode of dismissal in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, April 2 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Tripathi, who made his debut for India after a spectacular season with the Sunrisers last season, did not get off to a good start this time around after he bagged a two-ball duck against the Royals. Trent Boult got his wicket, but it would not have been possible without a stupendous catch from Jason Holder.
Boult bowled one just outside the off-stump and Tripathi tried to guide the ball down to the third man region. Holder, who was standing at wide slip, showed great reflexes, and caught hold the ball.

However, Tripathi used the DRS, feeling that he did not edge the ball at all. But replays showed a big spike when the ball passed the bat. Tripathi, therefore, had to return to the pavilion. The Sunrisers were reduced to 0/2 in 0/5 overs after the right-handed batter departed.
In fact, Boult started with a double wicket-maiden and showed why he is reckoned as one of the best in the world. After being asked to chase down 204, the Sunrisers found themselves in all sorts of trouble, losing two of their prolific run-scorers.
Boult dismisses Abhishek Sharma as well
Prior to Tripathi, Boult also accounted for the wicket of Abhishek Sharma. This time Boult did not need the support of any field as he sent Sharma’s stumps for a walk. The left-armer pulled off a deadly yorker and Abhishek was beaten all ends up by it.
It was indeed a special delivery from Boult, who is also approaching the 100-wicket milestone in the history of the T20 league.
