IPL 2024: Thala Mahi Back to His Vintage Best
Last evening at Vizag, 42 year old Mahendra Singh Dhoni turned back the clock to 2008. When the Chennai Super Kings were closing on an inevitable defeat against Delhi Capitals, Mahi walked in to bat at number 8. The crowd erupted in joy as 'Thala' made his way out to the ground. And Mahi did not disappoint.
Infront of a Vizag crowd packed in yellow, Dhoni was at his vintage best. In a show of raw strength and timing, Dhoni scored an unbeaten 37 off 16 deliveries with 4 fours and 3 sixes. He took on the big wily fast bowlers like Anrich Nortje and Khaleel Ahmed and came out on top.
Even when the match was gone, Dhoni stayed at the crease and kept strike. CSK might have lost the match by 20 runs, but CSK fans left the stadium with smiles on their faces.
Aakash Chopra voiced what everyone felt last evening when he said, "He (Dhoni) turned back the pages of history. He showed that whether a win was possible or not, the emotions in the heart are the same, and the love is still alive because he has still got it, that's what he said."
