"Iron Family" Cast Impresses at First Script Reading

KBS2’s upcoming weekend drama “Iron Family” has offered a glimpse into its highly anticipated first script reading. Written by Seo Sook Hyang,  is a dark comedy that follows a family running a laundry business for three generations. The family’s life changes when they unexpectedly come into money, allowing them to pursue their dreams and address the challenges in their lives.

The script reading was attended by director Sung Joon Hae, writer Seo Sook Hyang, and cast members including Kim Jung Hyun, Geum Sae Rok, Park Ji Young, Shin Hyun Joon, Choi Tae Joon, Yang Hye Ji, and others.

Kim Jung Hyun delivered Seo Kang Joo’s lines with a perfect balance of comedy and seriousness, eliciting laughter from the room. Geum Sae Rok naturally portrayed Lee Da Rim, a character suffering from an incurable illness, bringing depth to her performance. The chemistry between Kim Jung Hyun and Geum Sae Rok brought smiles to the audience.

Park Ji Young transformed into Go Bong Hee, a self-sacrificing mother, showcasing her acting prowess. Shin Hyun Joon, playing Jiseung Group Chairman Ji Seung Don, displayed charisma and sweet chemistry with Kim Hye Eun, who plays his wife Baek Ji Yeon. Kim Hye Eun’s performance was lively and ambitious, marking a shift from her previous roles.

Choi Tae Joon impressed as Cha Tae Woong, a diligent laundry worker and protective older brother to Da Rim, while Yang Hye Ji, as Lee Cha Rim, passionately embodied her character as a designer. Veteran actors Kim Young Ok and Park In Hwan added comedic charm with their impeccable portrayal of a delightful couple.

Supporting cast members Kim Sun Kyung, Wang Ji Hye, Jo Bok Rae, Kim Hyun Jun, and Ha Seo Yoon enhanced the session with their strong performances. The production team remarked, “The script reading session was both enjoyable and heartwarming from the start. The actors had such great chemistry that it was hard to believe it was their first time working together. The story of a family in the same neighborhood is expected to bring viewers both touching emotions and joy. We hope for your continued anticipation and interest.”
