Kane!!
Rumours are growing that Englishman marksman Harry Kane will move to Carabao Cup-winning side Manchester United, though Daniel Levy’s fearsome negotiation tactics may hinder the move from coming to fruition.
It has somehow been two years since Pep Guardiola and Manchester City fell short in their pursuit of Kane. Now they have the Norwegian goal-scoring machine of Erling Haaland, and I assume Pep Guardiola didn’t mind the Kane deal never amounted to anything.
But the control is seemingly beginning to slip through Tottenham’s fingers, with the England captain having 15 months left on his contract and the rising interest from some European giants, United included.
The 29-year-old is eager to push for silverware with someone of his pedigree and after another trophyless campaign with his below Tottenham, it seems inconceivable he will be donning the Tottenham white in the 23/24 season.
The side from Manchester, however, cannot afford to partake in an ongoing transfer saga for a position they so desperately need to fix. A striker that is fit, ready and raring to go for an all-important pre-season is vital for Erik ten Hag to plug the gap of his number 9 woes.
Manchester United will be informed to sell appropriately first, which is not the club’s bread and butter. And a war of attrition with Tottenham’s chairman amid a busy summer window is not exactly what the Dutchman in charge will want to endure.
As mentioned, Levy is a tough cookie to crack, and in reality, Kane’s value to the North Londoners is much higher than his proposed transfer value. He has been Tottenham’s leading man, reference point and guaranteed goal scorer for some time now and has become a dispensable asset for the club.
Tottenham have struggled for accolades with Kane on their side, so just imagine them without their all-time leading goal scorer.
This transfer (in my honest opinion) is not worth the hassle, especially as Kane is pushing 30 years of age. A figure like Victor Osimhen would be easier to attain and has five years of his Spurs counterpart.
