Israel Launches Renewed Assault on Jabalia Refugee Camp

Israel's military has intensified its ground offensive in the Jabalia refugee camp, resulting in at least 17 deaths, including nine children. This marks the third major assault on the densely populated area since the start of the conflict with Hamas a year ago.

Reports indicate that the Israeli forces deployed tanks for the first time in months, leading to widespread destruction and panic among residents. Witnesses described the attacks as among the worst experienced recently, with explosions shaking the ground and buildings.

The Israeli army claims its operations are aimed at dismantling Hamas infrastructure, citing intelligence about the presence of militants. However, human rights organizations argue that the attacks violate international law and constitute war crimes, as they have targeted civilian structures, including hospitals and schools.

In response to the escalating violence, the Israeli military has issued evacuation orders for residents in northern Gaza, urging them to move to designated "safe zones" in the south. However, many residents, aware of the precariousness of such zones, have chosen to remain, despite the ongoing bombardment.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that over 41,870 Palestinians have been killed since the conflict began, with ongoing calls for humanitarian intervention as the situation deteriorates further.
