I would disagree, we do fear accepting new changes, but eventually, it's not always the reason for our downfall.
The task was to make it easier, and it has done it enough, as far as the negative points are concerned, we should remember to look at how less important those are.
If we begin enumerating the points in favour of the Internet, then all of us will accept how necessary it is.
Also, if proliferating false information was a concern, then it's just a part of it, everything that was built to enhance the growth of human beings came with some negative points too, but that's okay. That's how a change occurs and society functions, making a thesis and antithesis of every discourse leading to the invention of something new.
Calling 'internet using' people half-witted won't be right as this argument completely ignores the large populations of people and how they have enlightened themselves using equal access to information.
The Internet is like any other resource; it's for humans to choose.
Whether they want to be a fool or intelligent!
