Though the Covid pandemic disrupted the grand centenary celebration in October 2020, Jamia Millia Islamia has found a way to commemorate its 100 years of existence.
The university has erected a stunning "centenary gate" opposite the university auditorium, attracting students and locals alike, who stop to take selfies with it.
Remodeling Gate No. 13, the new structure is built with red sandstone from Rajasthan and a dome from Uttar Pradesh.
The gate's architecture resembles the Jamia Middle School, where the institution's roots began in 1920 in Aligarh before moving to Delhi in 1925.
Vice-Chancellor Najma Akhtar's brainchild, the gate's completion will soon be formally inaugurated, honoring the historic milestone of this esteemed institution.
