Japan calls for broader international cooperation in the field of space technology in coordination with the United Nations

Mitsuru Kitano, Japanese Ambassador to Vienna, confirmed that his country is keen to develop technological cooperation in the field of space in coordination with the United Nations.  Pointing out that the Japanese Space Agency has many distinguished international programs in this field.

The ambassador pointed out in a speech he delivered before the International Space Technology Conference hosted by the United Nations headquarters in Vienna on Friday that there are promising opportunities for development and exploitation of space to enhance countries’ capabilities for growth and technological and economic progress.

For her part... Simonta del Pipo, Director of the United Nations Space Agency, said that development in the field of space projects continues and is currently entering its fourth stage.

She pointed out the importance of exchanging information and experiences in the field of developing satellites and modern scientific applications, noting that Japan's role in this field is pivotal and major due to its great interest in space research institutes.

The Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space continues its work in Vienna, and participants discuss scientific developments in the sector and their capabilities to meet new and emerging sustainable development challenges.

The participants reviewed the experience of launching the first Kenyan satellite into space with the support and sponsorship of the United Nations, where representatives of the Kenyan government presented their experience in this regard.
