Jeev, Jyoti among Indian stars to compete in country’s inaugural Legends Tour event from August 30
Jeev Milkha Singh will play the dual role of an organiser and player in the HSBC India Legends golf championship to be played at the Jaypee Greens in Greater Noida from August 30 to September 1.
The three-day competition, which boasts of participation from former US Open champion Michael Campbell among other luminaries, will offer a total prize purse of $5,00,000. The champion will get $74,250, while the second and third places will fetch $49,000 and $32,700 respectively.
The strong field, with players from 17 countries, is also expected to feature nine Indian players.
“I hope all the players have a great experience and enjoy the Indian cuisine and culture,” said Jeev Milkha Singh, in a press conference here on Tuesday.
The tournament will be preceded by the Pro-Am event on August 28 and 29.
“I am coming to India after 15 years and looking forward to some good golf,” said Michael Campbell.
“We are excited to partner with the Legends Tour as it debuts in India. This marks a historic moment for professional golf in India as it opens up new avenues for leading senior Indian professionals to compete against the best in the world,” said Uttam Singh Mundy, CEO of the PGTI.
The other Indian players in the fray, apart from Jeev and Jyoti Randhawa, will be Mukesh Kumar, Digvijay Singh, Harmeet Kahlon, Vijay Kumar, Amandeep Johl, Vishal Singh and Sanjay Kumar.
