Officials at the Kandahar Chamber of Commerce and Investment have announced that a remarkable 15,000 tons of grapes have been exported from the province to foreign countries this year. The export of fresh and dry fruits from Kandahar has been consistent and successful, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the provincial administration and the customs department.
Mohammad Sadiq Mohmand, the director of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment in Kandahar, revealed that the grape exports from the province are still ongoing, contributing positively to the local economy. As of now, Afghan traders have earned a total of eight million and 650 thousand US dollars from these grape exports.
This year, Kandahar is expected to see a significant increase in grape harvest, with an estimated yield of 273,060 tons. Compared to the previous year, this would mark a 10 percent rise in grape production, showcasing the region’s potential for agricultural growth. Currently, farmers in Kandahar are actively engaged in harvesting the bountiful grape crop.
