The Karnataka government has issued instructions for all Muzrai temples in the state to conduct a special pooja on January 22 to mark the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Endowment Minister Ramalinga Reddy specified a "maha mangalarathi" between 12.29 pm and 12.30 pm, coinciding with the installation of Lord Ram's idol.

Responding to the directive, BJP State President BY Vijayendra highlighted the acknowledgment of Kannadigas' unwavering faith in Prabhu Shri Ram by the Congress. The move follows a BJP protest condemning the arrest of Hindutva activist Srikanth Poojari, linked to riots after the Babri Masjid demolition. Poojari, arrested in Hubballi, was later granted bail.

The BJP had demanded Congress leader B K Hariprasad's arrest for his remarks about a Godhra-like incident in Karnataka before the Ram temple consecration. The Congress defended the statement, citing the need for proper arrangements for attendees traveling to Ayodhya, while BJP accused the Congress of orchestrating the Godhra incident in 2002.
