Karnataka skaters dominate in freestyle, clinches three gold - 61st National Skating Championship - Day 2
Chandigarh: Karnataka skaters dominated the second day of the 61st National Roller Skating Championship by clinching three gold medals in the freestyle skating event held at the newly built Skate Park in Sector 17, Chandigarh, on Tuesday.
Out of five gold medals at stake in the freestyle skating event, Karnataka bagged three, while Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu skaters clinched a gold medal each.
In the girls’ 11-14 years freestyle category, Yashaswini C of Karnataka bagged the top honours, while Radhesh Loya (Telangana) and R H Vaibhavi Reshma (Tamil Nadu) settled with silver and bronze, respectively.
In the girls’ 14-17 years freestyle category¸ Maharashtra’s Aum Gujarati won gold, while Afra Sn from Tamil Nadu won silver and Disha Mahesh (Karnataka) got bronze.
In the boys’ freestyle event, Karnataka’s Aathif Mohamed J clinched gold in the 11-14 years category, while another skater from Karnataka, Manoj Kumar bagged gold in the 14-17 years category. N P Haricharan of Tamil Nadu won gold in the boys’ seniors (+17 years) category.
In the sub-junior roller hockey mixed event, Jammu-Kashmir and Tamil Nadu entered the final.
In the roller hockey cadet boys’ league matches, Punjab defeated Kerala 4-1, while Andhra Pradesh defeated Haryana 2-1. Uttar Pradesh defeated Maharashtra 6-1.
In the sub-junior boys’ inline hockey, Chandigarh registered wins in both of their league matches. In their first league match, they defeated Telangana 7-3, while in their second league match Chandigarh defeated Ladakh 8-2.
Inline and roller hockey matches were played at Sector 10 Skating Rink and KB DAV School, Sector 7.
