The crunchy, deep-fried lotus stem fritters known as "Nadir Monje" are Kashmir's all-time favourite street dish. The other name for the lotus stem is “nadur” in kashmiri. The lotus stems are split lengthwise, dipped in a batter made of rice flour, and deep fried in a bowl of oil. Due to its rough nature, you usually need to boil the stem before frying. At these Nadir Monj carts one can find these deep fried lotus stems along with potatoes ,peas and fishes similarly dipped in rice flour batter followed by being deep fried. It pairs perfectly with the chutney provided along. It’s a must to try this mouth watering street food if you are in Kashmir anytime.
