In the midst of ongoing speculation surrounding Kate Middleton's disappearance from public view for months, rumors escalated when the princess posted a photo on Mother's Day, drawing heavy criticism for potentially editing the picture. Consider the daunting task of sharing your most difficult news with countless strangers. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, not knowing where or how to even start, isn't it?
In a video message released on Friday, Kate, the Princess of Wales, revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy, following a major abdominal surgery she underwent two months ago. The specific type of cancer has not been disclosed, but according to Kensington Palace, Kate began a course of preventive chemotherapy in late February.
She said - "This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family," Kate, 42, said in the video, which was filmed at Windsor on Wednesday. "As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment." The cancer was discovered in post-operative tests after her planned abdominal surgery in mid-January, she said. "We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery," Kate said. "I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone."
The princess also thanked her husband, Prince William, for his support and asked for privacy for her family. "Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.
