The image shows a street food vendor in Srinagar spreading ghee on barbecues inside a smoke-filled oven.

For a photo titled Kebabiyana that was captured in Srinagar, Debdatta Chakraborty was chosen the overall winner of Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2022.

The image was taken by an Indian photographer in the middle of the night on a crowded street as food vendors were cooking wazwan kebabs and other street fare in charcoal ovens.

According to Caroline Kenyon, the creator and director of the awards,“In today’s world, more than ever, we feel the need for comfort, for love.”

There were thousands of entries from more than 60 nations, and the winners were revealed online during a live event feed.
