Khanqah of Shah Hamdan, also known as the Shah-i-Hamdan Mosque, and Khanqah-e-Molla, were both constructed in Srinagar by Sultan Sikander in the year 1400 AD along the Jhelum River. The mosque was built in memory of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani, a Muslim saint credited with being the one to introduce Islam to Jammu and Kashmir.
On the sixth day of Dul-Haj, the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar year, Mir Syed Ali Hamdani's demise is commemorated here. On this day, a great deal of devotees come to this shrine to pray.
Within the shrine is a lovely wooden building with a finely carved ceiling and hanging bells. Ancient historical documents and religious discourses are etched on the shrine's interior walls.
