Kia India is gearing up to unveil the much-anticipated facelifted Sonet, marking the first major update to the popular compact SUV since its introduction in mid-2020. The facelift, undergoing testing for several months, is expected to debut in the coming weeks ahead of its market launch.
The exterior enhancements include a redesigned front grille, a more prominent headlight cluster, new LED Daytime Running Lights, restyled fog lamp enclosures, and a wider air intake. Additional updates feature newly designed alloy wheels, refreshed body cladding, connected LED tail lamps, tweaked bumper and tailgate, and the possibility of new color schemes.
Inside, the Sonet will boast an updated dashboard and center console, new controls, and surface finishes to elevate the premium appeal. The introduction of a new touchscreen infotainment system, similar to the Seltos facelift, and an updated instrument cluster is also expected. Top-end variants might incorporate ADAS-based driver-assistive and safety technologies.
While no significant mechanical changes are anticipated, the Sonet will retain its existing engine lineup, including the 1.2L NA petrol, 1.5-liter diesel, and 1.0L turbo petrol. Transmission options will encompass a five-speed MT, a six-speed iMT, a seven-speed DCT, and a six-speed AT. The facelifted Sonet will continue to compete with rivals such as the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. Looking ahead, the XUV300 is expected to receive a facelift in early 2024, and the Toyota Taisor, based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, is slated to launch next year. Stay tuned for the official debut and further updates on this refreshed compact SUV.
