Kroos goes out, not on the best note

Germany losing to Spain in the quarterfinals of Euro 2024 meant one more thing - that it was the last time we've seen the legendary Toni Kroos play professionally.

A lot of the talk pre game was about whether this could be his last game and it could have all come to an end pretty quickly. Kroos made two yellow card worthy fouls, one of which saw Pedri leave the field in tears before, the 10th minute. That was his whole game, with the characteristic control and mastery missing, instead resorting to constant fouling which went unpunished till late in the game.

Kroos goes out, an undoubted legend of the game, but the Euros shaped hole in his cabinet is set to remain.
