The situation and circumstances has been critical across the country, due to Cyclone Remal the Northeast of India is flooded.
And there has been rescue operations undergoing, and despite Manipur Police appealing to public not to disturb the rescue operations by crowding the places, a large number of people were seen coming out to watch the flooded area including in Khwairamband market area.
Following the breach by the Imphal River, the flood affected many parts of Imphal West area including NH-2 along Raj Bhavan stretch upto PWD office crossing, Khwairamband market area along BT road stretch, Nagamapal Road stretch, Wahengbam Leikai, Uripok, Keishamthong, Khagempalli and others.
Ironically, even as thousands are suffering and rescue operations are on, many were seen coming out of their homes to enjoy the view at Khwairamband market area. The people were seen enjoying the view by sitting on top of the road median along BT road stretch and foot bridge located on the northern side of Polo ground.
On Wednesday, the superintendent of police, Imphal West, stated that in view of the incessant rain during the past few days, a number of places in the valley districts have been inundated. The police department along with other agencies are helping the public in evacuation of stranded people, the SP said.
The SP then appealed to the public not to hamper the rescue operators by coming out in large numbers and crowding the place. It also requested the public to cooperate and facilitate rescue operations.
