Dr M. K. Bhan is father of India's first indigenously developed vaccine -Rota Virus Vaccine. He has man innovative initiatives to his credit. His extensive post-doctoral research at AIMS in diarrheal diseases and child nutrition discovered this vaccine. It was prequalified by WHO to be included into India's Universal Immunisation Programme. He is the recipient of the Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Prize for science-the highest science award of India for conceiving BIRAC to boost product development in the country.
