Rai Bahadur Sir Ganga Ram Agrawal was born in Mangtanwala (now in Pakistan ) . He was Civil engineer , an architect , a philanthropist and an accomplished agriculturist. He took on a lease from the government 50,000 acres of barren, unirrigated land in Montgomery District, and in three years converted it into fields. The land was irrigated by water from a hydroelectric plant and ran through a thousand miles of irrigation channels, all constructed at his own cost. Sir Ganga Ram earned millions, most of which he gave to charity. He designed the Lahore Museum building in the Indian Retrieval architectural style. Also designed and built General Post Office and Museum in Lahore, a number ofof schools, colleges of art, banking and for women.

HIS Contribution to Healthcare Landscape in India ;

He designed and built Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore in 1921, the Albert Victor wing of Mayo Hospital, and the Ravi Road House for the Disabled. By building a series of healthcare institutions, he brought affordable healthcare to the masses.

* He became Superintending Engineer in Patiala State for the capital's reconstruction project after his retirement.
* Amongst his works were Moti Bagh Palace, Secretariat Building, New Delhi.
