There would be many reasons suggested for cramps as you're pregnant, such as changes in your metabolism, having a vitamin deficiency, being not or too active. However, there's no particular reason so as to why they o cur in pregnancy.
How can I get rid of cramps?
To calm your leg cramps, you can try these:
• Stretch your muscles by pulling your toes hard up towards the front of the ankle
• Rubbing the muscles firmly
• Walk around
• Heat pack
If you're partner is close to you, you can ask them to help you.
Things that you could try whixh can help in preventing cramps ehich includes:
• Giving a strech to your calf muscles before you go to bed.
• Drink plenty of water
• Give yourself a warm bath before you go to bed
• Have a balanced diet
• Avoid stretching your leg while pointing your toes
Magnesium, calcium, vitamin B and vitamin C are suggested as a treatment for cramps. Its not clear that if any of these supplements would work, but people quite often try magnesium and calcium.
