Inspired by the famous Dal Chawal Arancini of Farzi Cafe, i made this, a delicious one and super easy too.
1 In a bowl add your leftover rice with half the amount of dal to make a thick mixture of binding consistency. Do not add too much dal (small steps only)
2 Proceed with chaat masala, red mirchi powder, green chilli paste, lemon juice and salt as per taste. Note: this recipe will differ according to the flavours of your dal so adjust accordingly.
3 Form chunky, tight balls using your hands and coat them with sooji or crushed snack of your choice (eg: khakhra, kurkure, etc.)
4 Dip the balls in rice flour batter (rice flour and water), and coat again with sooji.
5 Deep fry, and serve with aachar, green chutney and papad. (If you don't consume aachar during chaumasa, heat 1 tbsp of mustard oil and pour over 2 tbsp of methi masala).
This one is such a creative and people pleasing recipe. It is a whole meal in itself and we enjoyed it so much. P.S. we do consume aachar as an exception sometimes, if you don't, nothing like it.
