One in 9 Indians is likely to develop cancer . Besides this startling fact , males are at highest risk of lung cancer while breast cancer has been a leading health issue for women in India ! It's time we take these alarming statistics seriously and work at preventing this dreaded disease . Apart from eating healthy and exercising regularly , here are some tips which you and your loved ones can follow to keep any chances of getting cancer at bay ;
1 Avoid tobacco - Cancers of the lung , mouth , throat , voice box , pancreas , bladder , cervix and kidney are all linked to consumption of tobacco - be it smoking or chewing . And yes , secondhand smoke can harm equally !

3 Get vaccinated - Certain viral infections are known to lead to the uncontrolled growth of cells . So make sure you are vaccinated against Hepatitis B and HPV (Human papillomavirus) . While Hepatitis B increases your chances of developing liver cancer , HPV can lead to cervical cancer & other genital cancers .
4 Go for regular medical checkups - Screenings for cancers of the skin , colon , cervix and breasts are a good idea as they can help you nip health complications in the bud .
