A muscle pull, an ankle twist or a ligament stretch doesn't come with a warning. An accident can happen at any time and you must be prepared to provide the necessary first-aid. One basic must-know that many of us may not be aware of is how to tie a crepe bandage properly. It's important to know how much pressure to use while tying the bandage and exactly how it needs to be secured to provide maximum support to the injured area. First of all, ensure there are no creases on your bandage. Throughout the process, keep the pressure up - the bandage should not be loose at any point. Here's a step-by-step for an injured hand;
Start under the palm - It's a good place to begin - ensuring the bandage is well-secured in the beginning itself.
Alternate straight & diagonal rounds - Keeping a firm hand, tie the bandage straight and then diagonally, then straight again and so on. This will balance out the support being provided by the bandage.
Tighten around the wrist - When the bandage is about to finish, move it towards the wrist and tie a few rounds around it. This will ensure less pressure on the injured area.
Secure with clips - The clips provided with your crepe bandage are ideal to secure it, helping keep the bandage in place without any discomfort.
