Interesting
India has large young population which is considered as super power in the world. Predominantly the young population especially well educated urban Indians are grossly a sick population with one or the other metabolic disorders more commonly obesed with elevated levels of glucose. This phenomenon is witnessed only in this 21st century because of wrong food habits largely due to so called industrial food processing. Adulterating or fortifying every baby food or children's food as well as adolescent's food with sucrose or fructose is a common FDA and FSSAI permitted food products in India. Children upto school levels largely depend on biscuits, cookies, pastries, cakes and ice creams as staple food which forms large part of their daily food intake. All these ready made sucrose or fructose fortified products when eaten as raw materials for the stomach, spoils the gut microbiota and interferes with digestion, absorption and assimilation. Like any other animals on earth gut requires only raw materials, wherein supplying well cooked glucose or fructose fortified ready made cooked (processed) and preservatives packed foods like biscuits undergoes a wrong pathway is hardcore fundamental science. Adding fuel to this preservatives acting as Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDC) which mimics hormones, neurohormones as well as enzymes and coenzymes leading to wrong or incomplete metablism in the body. India must be a role model, a responsible country in the world in protecting younger population from metabolic disorders like diabetes.
Diabetes means freely circulating glucose when not recognised by insulin out of insulin tolerance/resistance or not converted into glycogen for storage due to insulin short secretion or zero secretion. If this is the case, young population continue to eating large volumes of sucrose or fructose fortified or adulterated foods and ready to eat packed foods like biscuits is detrimental. Continous stress due to free floating glucose impairs normal cell functions and when prolonged the free circulsting glucose spoils one or the other gene responsible for insulin production. Noteworthy to mention here when Indian urban young population is suffering from elevated levels of glucose, the sucrose fortified ready made foods add fuel to the problem.
