Lilliput and Blefuscu are two fictional island nations that appear in the first part of the novel Gulliver's Travels written by Jonathan Swift in 1726. The two islands are adjacent in the South Indian Ocean, separated by a channel 800 yards (730 m) wide. Both are inhabited by small people who are about twelve heights taller than normal humans. Both are empires, i.e. realms ruled by an emperor. Lilliput and its capital, Mildindu. In some images, the islands are arranged in the shape of an egg, a nod to their white-dominated history and cultures
