Representative Sonam Frasi of the Office of the Tibet, London, visited Baltic Countries from 4 – 9 August 2023 to continue Tibet advocacy building up on his previous visit last January.
Visit to Estonia this time was at the official invitation of the Seto Kingdom during which Seto House Community Centre hoisted the Tibetan national flag in honour of Representative Sonam Frasi’s visit and Tibet-related books were donated to the Seto Community Library. Representative Frasi had carried with him a letter from His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Estonia’s President of Riigikogu and their meeting was covered in the biggest national newspaper Postimees.
Representative Sonam Frasi spoke at the Seto Kingdom ceremony expressing his admiration of the rich cultural heritage represented at Seto Kingdom Festival.
Representative spoke on the prevailing situation in Tibet and China’s political attempt to deliberately destroy Tibetan culture and identity.
As a gesture of appreciation from the people of Tibet, Representative presented the national Flag of Tibet as a binding friendship between the two nations people and its culture.
During his four-day visit, Representative Frasi met with leaders and council members of the Seto Kingdom, faith leaders, members of Parliament, Tibet supporters and Estonian government officials and MEPs to inform them about Tibet’s past history and current situation, and garner support for Tibet’s peaceful freedom movement.
Representative Frasi has also visited Latvia primarily to meet with the newly-formed Parliamentary friendship group for Tibet after their recent general election and updated members on the current situation regarding Tibet, including MP Girts Lapins who is the current chairperson of the parliamentary group. He also met with government officials and local Tibet supporters.
